Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology is happy to host the Grand Finaleof the Smart India Hackathon 2019, the World’s Biggest Hackathon. The Programme run continuously for 36 hours with students involved in cracking the technical issues confronted by business organizations and Government Institutions in the day to day management. We are one among the 48 Institutions in India and one among the 6 Institutions in Tamil Nadu being selected as Nodal Center to host this mega event. We are the Nodal Centre for the problems of Ministry of Civil Aviation and Ministry of Labour and Employment. 32 Teams comprising of 250+ students representing Technical Institutions across India competed in the Grand finale at our Institution.
Smart India Hackathon 2019 was inaugurated on 2 nd March at all the 48 Nodal Centres by the honourable Shri Prakash Javadekar, Minister of HRD through Video Conferencing. Mr. Srikanth Srinivasan, Director, NASSCOM inaugurated the mega event at our Institution and delivered the inaugural address.
Our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the students at the Grand Finale of the Smart India Hackathon, via Video Conference. He interacted with several groups of students participating in the Hackathon, at various institutes across the country. The interaction with students covered themes such as agriculture, finance, malnutrition, and education.
The valedictory of Smart India Hackathon 2019 was held on 3 rd March. Ms. Usha Padhee,I.A.S, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Mr. P. Ponniah I.A.S, Collector, Kancheepuram District, Mr. Muthu Manikkam, Dy.General, Department of Labour Welfare, distributed prizes to the winners of the Smart India Hackathon 2019. Dr. Marie Johnson, President, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology and Dr. Mariazeena Johnson, Pro Chancellor, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology congratulated the winners.
All the participants went through three levels of evaluation before the winners were selected. Experts from the IT and Software Industry and officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Ministry of Labour and Employment evaluated the teams.
